Polymers and chemical intermediates manufacturer Invista is preparing to launch an expansion project at an existing site in South Carolina to increase production of nylon 6,6 polymer and add logistics capabilities.

The location formerly functioned as a carpet fiber production plant. Coverting the facility into a nylon 6,6 asset will allow Invista to increase supply of the product to the merchant market.

“Invista is known for its high-quality nylon 6,6 polymer, supported by its world-class, upstream chemical intermediates technologies,” Pete Brown, vice president of Invsita Nylon Polymers, said in a release. “We are excited to continue expanding the application potential for our materials through this investment in South Carolina.”

Work on the project is expected to reach completion in 2024.
